Reaping Blessings

August 7, 2016

This was a absolutely great week I think one of the best on my mission. For 4 months I have worked this area hard with not a lot of success. But after the trial of our faith the blessings come. It all started with a member from the central cost calling us and telling us he has a friend who lives in Goodooga(4 hours away) we have never been able to contact this person because of the distance and in that town there is no addresses just the names of houses. He wants to come back to church and he wants his non member family to learn. So on the 16 of August we will leave and live in lightning ridge (3hours away) for a week with a member so we can travel to Goodooga to teach. Then a diffrent member also called us and said he has 2 friends who want to learn. They live in Gunnedah which is only 1 hour away(That is really close here). We went to visit sonny and mick(the NIs) Sonny was having a really bad day. His GF broke up with him, his son is a fugitive, his mother died 3 months ago. Mick was happy to see us and welcomed us in. He said he will talk to sonny so that we can all meet together. Mick said "I know you can help him" Then while finding we found a family 2 parents 9 kids and 1 on the way. We have a lesson with them on Friday. Then on Sunday sister Vowels brought her friend to church. We talked with here and she does not want to learn more just yet but she wants to check it out a bit first. She acts like a Mormon though so we think she will learn very soon. Then we got a new member that moved into the branch. She lives in Walget(2hours) She is from New Zealand and is a solid member. The work just exploded here and we will be doing a lot of running around this week. Lastly my parents got my BYU-Idaho acceptance letter. So after the mission that's where ill be going to school!

Visit from the Mission President

July 24, 2016

This week was a busy one. We had president come all the way from Sydney to come to our sacrament meeting! That was great to have him up here. He came up the day before and had dinner with us then we all went to visit one of our investigators. I sent a picture of him in our shed (because he is a huge guy) On sunday president and sister checkets gave amazing talks then we all had a branch lunch. When I was just about to sit down I heard a yell from the kiddie table so I got upgraded to the best seat in the house haha. Some bad luck happened also my drivers licence expired and elder Samin cant drive so until my new one gets here we might be in a little trouble. President said that Elder Pierce could drive our car and take us around until the licence gets here so that will be fun! I think that this will be an interesting week haha

Public Relations

July 17, 2016

This week we drove a lot! First I drove down to Tamworth (4 hours round trip) to wait for Elder Samin. Then the next day we drove to Collarenebri  (4) to help a newly moved in member paint their house. Then on Saturday we drove to lightning ridge (6) to bring the sacrament to the members up there. Then about another 2 hours from trips to the smaller towns near Narrabri. So in total we drove 16 hours and about 1700 kilometres. First in Collarenebri we are really lucky to be getting the Polsonis. They are a great couple. Them moved to the middle of nowhere because they felt like that is where they need to be. We have the Lee family in Collarenebri. Sister Lee is very sick from her pregnancy so we know that the Polsonis will be a huge support to them. Then in lightning ridge. I always love the sacrament meeting up there even though it was small it is always powerful! We actually had more people come to the sacrament meeting in lightning ridge then in Narrabri. A lot of the members are on vacation so we had 8 people including us and the Pierces at church but it was still great! We talked to Marrie one of the bosses at vinnies (a catholic humanitarian thing). We talked to her about starting an addiction recovery class using the LDS church program. She said she would talk to her priest. Hopefully we can get this running to help a lot of people and get some new investigators. It will also be really good to work with another church so that maybe the people of Narrabri will hate us less haha. Actually that is getting a lot better because Elder Stianhagen and I did a lot of public relation things and it has been working. So it will be exciting to see what will happen but we are expecting great things!
No one knows...
